At present, more and more companies are using laser welding machines on the market. What are the advantages of laser welding machines that make companies change their production processes and choose laser welding machines?

Laser welding is one of the important aspects of the application of laser material processing technology. In the 1970s, it was mainly used for welding thin-walled materials and low-speed welding. The welding process is of the heat conduction type, that is, the laser radiation heats the surface of the workpiece, and the surface heat diffuses to the interior through heat conduction. By controlling the width, energy, peak power and repetition frequency of the laser pulse and other parameters to melt the workpiece and form a specific molten pool. Due to its advantages, it has been successfully used in precision welding of micro and small parts. The emergence of high-power CO2 and high-power YAG lasers has opened up a new field of laser welding. Deep penetration welding based on the small hole effect has been obtained, and it has been increasingly widely used in industrial fields such as machinery, automobiles, and steel.

Advantages of laser welding machine:

  1. It can weld refractory materials such as titanium, quartz, etc., and can also weld heterogeneous materials with good results.
  2. It can be welded at room temperature or under special conditions, and the laser welding machine is simple to install. For example, when a laser passes through an electromagnetic field, the beam will not deflect; the laser can be welded in vacuum, air and certain gas environments, and can be welded through glass or materials that are transparent to the beam.
  3. The laser beam can easily split the beam according to time and space, and can perform multi-beam simultaneous processing and multi-station processing for more precise welding.
  4. It can weld inaccessible parts and perform non-contact long-distance welding, which has great flexibility. Especially in recent years, optical fiber transmission technology has been adopted in YAG laser processing technology, making laser welding technology more widely promoted and applied.
  5. Fast speed, large depth and small deformation.
  6. Micro welding is possible. The laser beam can obtain a very small spot after being focused and can be positioned accurately. It can be used in the assembly welding of micro and small workpieces produced in large quantities for automated production.
  7. After the laser is focused, the power density is high. When welding high-power devices, the aspect ratio can reach 5:1 and as high as 10:1.

Disadvantages of laser welding machine:

  1. It is required that the position of the beam on the workpiece cannot be significantly offset. This is because after the laser is focused, the spot size is small and the welding seam is narrow, so filler metal materials are added.
  2. The cost of lasers and related systems is high, and the one-time investment is large.

The advantages and disadvantages of laser welding machines will be introduced here today. Welcome to follow the laser welding machine manufacturers to learn more about marking machines.
